Reborn Cardboard Sofa by Monocomplex Design Studio:

Le Studio de conception coréen Monocomplex a produit Reborn Cardboard Sofa à partir de 127 pièces de carton recyclées. l’article a été sculptée avec un moulin à scie une fois que les pièces ont été collées ensemble. Tout au long du processus de sculpture, le concepteur a façonné la chaise en s’asseyant dessus et progressivement pour s’adapter à son corps par la sculpture.

Description from the designer:

Reborn cardboard sofa contains a meaning that it reuses cardboards which were dumped after wrapping products and revives it as a product for use. It was produced by connecting 127 cardboards as a solid one and cutting its form with a grinder and saw, not by development figure. It expresses truthfulness of this project by its designer starting from its basic size, sitting on it himself, gradually fitting the body and carving it.

Place Keeper Chair by Julian Sterz:

Lors de la dernière édition du imm Cologne, Julian Sterz a présenté Place Keeper Chair, un siège déstructuré qui a été également mentionné au concours des jeunes designers D3 contest. Le créateur a choisi de travailler sur un objet icône, comme la chaise, d’étudier et de l’analyser au cours de sa thèse sur le travail de conception industrielle.

Le projet, d’un croisement entre une installation et une conception des produits, est basé sur les aspects conceptuels et formels développés par le concepteur.

“The idea was to design a chair whose six basic elements (four legs, a seat and a backrest) were joined by a further part of molded plastic,”says Julian Sterz,” During the design process I wanted to emphasize the features of the original chair through a systematic division of the parts.”

Utiliser la corde pour intégrer les techniques textiles à plus grande échelle, la designer canadienne Laura Carwardine a créé Loom Chair, un belle pièce qui célèbre l’union des matériaux tendres et durs. L’assise de siège et le dossier de cette chaise longue sont créés à partir d’une pièce continue d’une corde orange, enroulé sur une structure de tige de cheville en bois. Le fauteuil Loom a été exposé lors de Interior Design Show 2013 – Toronto.

Description from the designer:

Hardened Leather Chair is made with an old technique for hardening leather in a 100% natural way.The technique has been used for corsets and armours, and is now being used as self-supported upholstery for a dining chair.The shape of the chair, which is commonly seen in plastic, gets a Nordic materiality by the use of leather and the frame of light ash.

Dent Chair de studio suédois o4i incarne l’idée de l’élégance et la simplicité . Il est l’antithèse de l’idéal. C’est une chaise jamais vu auparavant et nous osons dire ne laissera personne indifférent. L’histoire de la chaise Dent a commencé avec l’idée d’essayer de réaliser l’impossible: pour mouler une surface à double courbure 3D de placage régulier, utilisant une couche-collé moulé par compression des cendres de bois sont empilable.

The Dent chair challenges the idea of the sleek and beautiful. It is the antithesis of perfect. It is a chair never seen before and, we dare to say, won’t leave anyone indifferent. The story of Dent chair started with the idea of trying to achieve the impossible: to mould a double-curved 3D surface out of regular veneer. At the same time, the story of Dent is the story of how the rejected became the selected. We have had many years’ experience of designing chairs using traditional plywood moulding techniques, always trying to extend the boundaries of what is possible without “cheating” by using expensive 3D veneer. With Dent we decided to be even bolder, by taking a step beyond where we have already been, out of our comfort zone and into the unknown.
